Under the auspices of the Dean, Vice Deans, and Student Affairs Supervisor General of the Faculty of Meteorology, Environment & Arid Land Agriculture, it gives the Student Affairs personnel great pleasure to offer numerous services to students during their program of study. In fact, the Student Affairs department constitutes an important link between students and the Deanship of Admissions & Registration. Keen on caring for our dear youth as a real investment in our country’s future and the focal point of the academic process, the Faculty’s Student Affairs personnel would like to introduce students – through this website – to our various services, statutes and academic regulations with which they should be acquainted throughout their program of study. Instructions


The Faculty of Meteorology, Environment & Arid Land Agriculture is one of KAU’s scientific colleges. To be admitted to these colleges, qualifying students have been required by the university as of the Academic Year 2006-2007 to enroll in a one-year program for students of physical sciences. Students who successfully complete the first-year program will be allowed to enroll in the specialized colleges as of the third semester. .

Supervisor

A student advisor is a departmental faculty member who monitors and provides guidance to students enrolled in the department; and helps them select an ideal program of study that would enable them to graduate in the shortest time possible.

Major


Major Requirements:

To submit a request for majoring in a particular department by the deadline stipulated in the University Calendar.

To meet the requirements set forth by each faculty department.

Procedures:

A request for majoring in a particular department must be filed through KAU’s ODUS Internet Services.

Important note:

Failure to major by the required deadline results in the student’s:

Being enrolled in any available department in accordance with the Faculty’s facilities.

Not being able to register for the required credit hours.

Not being able to receive a course schedule.

 

Printing And Amending Course Schedules


Requirements:

2- To meet the deadline for amending course schedules either through ODUS or the Faculty.

1- Each student is responsible for amending his own schedule; and must make sure that this has been done by printing a copy of it within two weeks from the start of the semester.

Requirements:

By using their special User Name, students can access ODUS via the Internet – before the beginning of each semester – in order to print and amend their course schedules.

Students can also amend their course schedules by adding or dropping courses in accordance with their GPA:

-If your GPA is greater than 2.75, you can add up to 18 credit hours.

-If your GPA is less than 2.75, you can add up to 15 credit hours.

If a student cannot print or amend his course schedule via ODUS, he must do so through the Faculty’s Academic Affairs or relevant department, so that the student’s academic advisor would help him complete his course schedule.


Reasons for Inability to Amend or Print Course Schedules


-Not completing procedures for majoring in a particular specialization.

-Failure in the previous semester.

-Dropping out of school for one or more semesters.

-Expiration of the required period for graduation.


Postponement of Studies


Requirements:

Student’s GPA must not fall below 2.0.

Student must have completed at least two semesters of study.

Students can acquire a postponement of studies for two consecutive semesters or three non-consecutive semesters while enrolled at the university.

Important note:

*Leave-of-absence semesters will NOT be deducted from the regular program of study.

Procedures:

Students must submit a postponement-of-studies request before the end of the semester preceding the postponement semester in accordance with the university calendar.

Students must submit their postponement-of-studies request online through ODUS.

Students must continue their studies until they ascertain through ODUS that their postponement-of-studies request has been approved.


Leave of Absence


Requirements:

Student’s GPA must not fall below 2.0.

Student must have completed at least two semesters of study.

Students can acquire a leave of absence for two consecutive semesters or three non-consecutive semesters while enrolled at the university.

Important note:

*Leave-of-absence semesters will NOT be deducted from the regular program of study.

Procedures:

Students must submit leave-of-absence request at least five weeks before final exams in accordance with the university calendar.

Students must submit their leave-of-absence request online through ODUS.

Students must continue their studies until they ascertain through ODUS that their leave-of-absence request has been approved.
